Wie is Bianca Streng?

Bianca Streng is an expert in textile product development and sustainability. With more than 15 years of experience in the textile industry and work as a consultant for various companies and organisations, she is now our sector manager for textiles at CSR Netherlands. Her goal? To make the textile chain circular, fair and transparent, by stimulating innovations, sharing knowledge and promoting cooperation.

Bianca has set up her own fashion label and knows exactly which challenges brands have to deal with. Within her work as a (freelance) designer, she also likes to liaise with my clients or suppliers to make the right trade-offs and implement them.

Together with companies in the network, Bianca works on bio-based materials and a closed recycling chain, among other things. Bianca believes that a sustainable chain goes beyond products. It is about circular design, sustainable use of materials and the use of bio-based raw materials, and a system change in recycling. But also about social and compassionate entrepreneurship and transparency. As sector manager for textiles, she brings companies together to think about this and get started. Bianca is also an enthusiastic speaker and likes to talk about new developments and upcoming legislation, which she believes are important incentives to achieve sustainability. Some examples:

  • "[European regulation] is really a wake-up call for companies that are not yet working on sustainability. It forces companies to think more carefully about how much they produce. And thus hopefully to less overproduction." in the Volkskrant about this part of the Green Deal.

  • "It really requires a change in behaviour. Our first thought when something is broken or when we are fed up with it is: I'll buy something new" in AD, about circular textiles.

  • "In the shop, pay close attention to the composition. If a jumper is made of acrylic, polyester and cotton, an alarm bell should go off in your head. It is much easier to handle clothes made of 100 per cent wool or cotton." in Trust, on what best to do with worn clothes.
